It feels pretty good to be back in California. After a $96 cab ride from the Oakland airport to my hotel in Mill Valley (remind me to rent a car the next time around), I was able to go on a long run on what seemed like a late summer night. It's really pretty here and somewhat rural. I really hope that I am in the right place, as it's hard to imagine that any sort of corporate marketing meetings take place around here.
Anyway, I also went to a really good traditional Italian dinner tonight. Actually it was so good that I might name my first son Antipasto. A few things I've learned today:
- You are only allowed to bring toothpaste tubes up to 3oz carry-on. Needless to be said, I had to check my bag.
- My cab driver was a really smart man and used to be a successful business guy. It didn't surprise me that he doesn't like his current job.
- I am staying at a Holiday Inn tonight. Free internet and a soft bed. I like it, plus I am expecting to be really smart tomorrow.
- Don't buy bottled water when staying in a hotel. Just keep filling up your mouthwash cups at the water cooler in the gym. It's simple.
That's it. I don't want to overdo it on the wisdom. I'll be back in Portland tomorrow.
