Working in Advertising, I am always curious to see how consumers react to certain traps laid out there by marketers. Well, this weekend I was able to make a first-hand observation. My girlfriend prequalifies any book based on the color of its bound. If it ain’t pink or purple, then she won’t even consider it. Being at Costco, I saw her walking from one pink book to the next. Every time I suggested a different colored alternative, she graciously declined to even look at it. And then she’s surprised that her mother bought her a pink book about some dog that struck it big in show business. Fortunately, she doesn’t like it. There is hope.
