Why Deutschland Loves David Hasselhoff

As part of my ongoing effort to give meaningful and educational presentations about today’s hot topics, I will be presenting at the next Ignite Portland event.

What’s Ignite Portland? Here’s what the friendly folks at Ignite had to say about Ignite:

A bunch of fast-paced, interesting
presentations – 20 slides for 15 seconds each. Our mantra is “share
burning ideas” – just about any topic will do, as long as it’s
interesting. From tech to crafts to business to just plain fun! There
will be time to network and chat after each series of presentations.

Sort of like Toastmasters for geeks, just in front of a much larger audience. So I will have my five minutes of fame alongside with 13 other really meaningful presentations, such as How to be an undercover hookerSix Weeks to Robot and A History of the Stick Figure.

Here’s my idea:

Why Deutschland Loves David Hasselhoff
Growing up in Europe, I was fortunate enough to see The Hoff’s career
take off as an actor, singer and just all around role model in my home
country of Germany. This talk discusses some of his most important
career achievements and painfully points out what America missed out
on.

Last but not least, here’s one of my favorite presentations from the first Ignite Portland Event which was on how to talk to someone romantically online.

Hilarious topic Mario… Being a red-blooded American, I can vouch for the fact that Hasselhoff’s greatness is lost on me. Except when I was 8 and Knight Rider was the most kick-ass show on TV.
