mario the babysitter

For the first time in my life, I performed the role of a babysitter. One of my colleagues at work had the opportunity to go to some kind of dinner show. It was pretty surprising that she asked me to look over her 3 kids, especially considering that I have never babysat before. If my mum would have found out about this, she would have done everything in her power to avoid this from happening. My mum still has dire doubts about whether or not I can even take care of myself, let alone 3 children under the age of 6. Now, if she finds out, that all 3 children and myself survived this experience, chances are she will break out in tears of happiness. Go for it mum, I did it.

Delaney (5yrs old), Riley (3yrs old) and Flattery (1 yr old) all came out of this alive. Not only are they breathing and eating, but chances are they actually had a good time. To start things out, I sat down on the couch and my head was quickly bestowed with a basketball shaped hat. Then everyone proceeded to hit me over the head with every toy imaginable. I was afraid to tell them that it actually kind of hurt, as they  seemed to be having a good time. That was until Riley decided to pull out a hammer. Luckily, I was able to avoid the attack and the night went on peacefully. We played tuggawar with a baseball pat and then the kids went back to hitting me again. This time with Pez Dispensers. A lot better then tools, I guess. Amazing, how hard a 18months old girl can hit. She is going to be one heck of a lady.

The night went on. We watched movies (“Mrs. Twiggley’s tree”, “Big Red” and “Why the beetle crossed the road”), brushed teeth and read stories. It was great. I am going back to reading children’s books. A lot easier to read and they make you think about all the simple things in life.

Tomorrow, we got our soccer finals. We placed first in our league and now are contending for the division championship. Other than that, this weekend promises to be rather boring. Only one knows why…
