Starbucks is now serving warm breakfast sandwiches to try and break into McDonalds’ most profitable daypart. McDonalds on the other hand is dishing out premium coffee and lattes. The lines are blurring, experiences are faulting and authenticity is a thing of the past. Short term profits will rise at the expense of alienating one’s bread and butter business. With Starbucks’ move to try and compete with McDonalds, there is tremendous opportunity for authentic local coffee shops.
Nevertheless, my Starbucks sausage muffin was pretty darn good.
