This Friday night was spend in the midst of a local bookstore philosophy discussion. A philosophical discussion about the whether or not to vote for what’s best for oneself or best for society in general. It was held at the local Barnes and Noble bookstore. It is amazing to see for what reasons people go these philosophical gatherings. A lot of old people who see at as a way to learn and spread their wisdom gathered throughout the decades. A lot of college professor kind-of-likes who are there to observe society. Some activist college students and people who rallyed in the streets during Vietnam. And some who fought the war in Vietnam. Quite frankly, some of those guys probably even fought the Germans a while back. And then there are the homeless and the ones who just came for the cookies and milk.
And me. Who knows howI ended up there. But I was there for the whole night. I mostly listened and sometimes had to fight hard to not voice my opinion. A lesson to learn for me.
It’s amazing how some people feel so strongly about a topic that never even crossed my mind.
I am going back there. Probably to listen and learn about yet another topic that seems of no interest to me.
And it will be great…
