So last night Natilee and I went to some place called “Thompson’s point of view”. It is a bar/restaurant, that is mainly visited by Seattle’s African American population. It’s in the Central District and Natilee and I sure stood out in the place. It was awesome. We ate fried chicken wings and I actually ordered Macaroni and Cheese as a side order. Never done that before.
The place is set up just like a normal restaurant, except that there is a band playing in the middle of the room. I am not sure what the name of this band was, but there were some pretty interesting characters playing in it. Take Sammy Dee for example. The guy playing the bass. Upon entering “Thompson’s point of view”, Sammy Dee personally greeted us with the following words: ” Good evening. My name is Sammy Dee. I am the guy who used to walk the streets with Jimmy Hendrix. Thank you so much for coming. We are going to have a great time tonight”. This was followed up by a handshake and a pad on the butt.
Or take, Franky M. The lead singer. Franky was constantly dancing through the room, always staring at himself in the mirror. The guy loved to comment on how pretty the waitresses were at “Thompson’s point of view” and mentioned Momma Thompson on several occasions. Couldn’t have been too successful considering the fact that the band was paying for their own drinks. I have never seen that before either.
When leaving the place, Sammy Dee reminded us that they are playing every Friday and Saturday night. If you have the time, meet Sammy Dee at “Thompson’s point of view”. It’s worth it.
