southern california on fire

southern california on fire

I once again am living in a national disaster area. Southern California is on fire. The sky is covered by a thick blanket of red smoke. Dust is piling up on the cars and TV stations air the battle against nature 24/7.  Everything smells like barn fire and visibility is extremely limited. And once again, nature has proven us that mankind cannot fully control this earth.

In the meantime, me and my buddy Art decided to go mountainbiking along the coastline. From Redondo beach to Hermosa beach ending our trip in Hermosa beach.  Despite the lackluster air quality, I managed to have a great time. We had lunch in a place called “The Lighthouse” and I came within 20 feet of a group of seals. Initially, I thought I was dealing with Dolphins, but I guess those are a lot bigger. There is really a lot going on here in Southern California. Everyone is striking, Schwarzenegger becomes Governor and now everything is burning down. Who would have known?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the firefighters and their families as well as the many people who are affected by these fires. Houses are burning down by the minute and a dozen people have already lost their lives.
