Actually, I got a ticket for driving too slow, not too fast. At first I got lost for about an hour, circling around LAX. Then I managed to take the freeway into the wrong direction. And after turning around, I was trying to make up for lost time on LA’s side streets. Trying to beat a coming red light, my car didn’t quite accelerate as expected. I crossed the magic line just as the lights were turning red and was greeted by a prompt flash. The LA municipal traffic system had just taken a horrendously expensive portrait of my car and I. I cannot believe that they have cameras installed, wrongfully fining people who are trying to adhere to local speed limits. If I wasn’t vigilantly moving along in my ’89 station wagon, I could have easily beat the red light and avoided the cameras. This just ain’t fair.
