Yesterday, I was on the set of “Friends” for a full 9 hours. You wouldn’t believe it. Megan’s mum introduced us to the Head Stage Designer at Warner Bros and through him, we had the opportunity to be part of this once in lifetime (at least for me) event. This took every little bit of my patience. You basically sit on a set of bleachers overlooking the five different rooms in which “Friends” is filmed. An animator is constantly jumping around in front you, throwing Snicker bars and trying to get you to scream and clap. Every four hours they pass a few boxes of pizza down the isles and beverages usually follow an hour after that. You are only allowed to go to the bathroom once there is a group of at least 20 others. The group has to be escorted to the nearest container building and a shrieking voice reminds you to pee quickly. Then you walk back to the stage and wait 20 minutes to be let into the building again. I am really glad that I got to make this experience, but I am staying away from moovie studios for a while. Yet, the coolest thing about the whole gig was that we got to have lunch with the crew of “Drew Carey”.
Last week was a crazy week for me. On Monday night, me and a bunch of my colleagues went out to a hotel bar in Beverly Hills. I truly made the most out of that experience. Lots of coronas, tequila and supposedely even some wine. The following night was spent in the office. I worked for 33 straight hours. And that after a night of heavy drinking. By Wednesday, I looked and smelled about as bad as you possible could. Unfortunately, we had a day of corporate coaching. A presentation coach from England spend the day with us. Oh boy. Here are some of his favorite lines about me:
“You are killing me”…”Stop, Stop, Stop”…”Your quirky little smile is not going to get you anywhere in giving this presentation”…”This is the end of my latin”.
What a week.
